How to reflect achievements in the resume

Holders of vivid resumes are much more likely to receive interview invitations. However, in order to compile such a summary, due attention must be paid to all its parts, including the section that describes achievements.

Success and Responsibilities
Each person can boast of certain successes: personal, social and professional. Recruiters are interested in the latter (although the first two categories can be mentioned, if you think that potential employers will appreciate it). Professional achievements include everything that goes beyond daily business responsibilities. For example, preparing a report is your responsibility, and implementing a new effective quarterly reporting form is an achievement, especially if you explain what its effectiveness was specifically about.

The numbers are clearer
Remember: the more accurately you describe your professional successes, the more reasons the recruiter will have to invite you for an interview. Imagine a stream of several dozen resumes, against which only one or two stand out by the presence of specific numbers.

The phrase "expanding the customer base" has already bothered many recruiters so much that they simply do not perceive it. But the “Quarterly increase in the customer base by 10%” will tell the HR specialist not only about your professional success, but also about the ability to separate the main thing from the secondary.

Winner's Day
It is much easier to write about your achievements to a specialist whose profession includes continuous growth, manifestation of initiative and participation in bright projects. But what about those whose responsibilities seem rather prosaic at first glance? For example, a programmer with due experience can easily fill in the graph of achievements that will advantageously illustrate his successes: database optimization, development of a new application. And what achievements can an assistant lawyer or an office manager have if most of their tasks are performed within the framework of a strictly fixed functionality?

In such cases, more and more emphasis can be placed on personal qualities that help to successfully engage in professional activities. If you experience objective difficulties in listing achievements within the specialty, mention your ability to work under multitasking conditions or the ability to organize uninterrupted work of the client department during periods of increased workload.

Successful start
But what about those who have absolutely no experience? If the company is ready to hire a young specialist, it means that it does not expect from him an impressive list of professional achievements. However, finding worthy facts in your biography is still worth it. Focus on the experience that is directly related to your future work. For example, if a company requires initiative and independent employees, describe the experience of organizing any events. Sports achievements will tell you about your focus on results and an active life position.

You can talk about your scientific works (term papers, diploma) if they are directly related to your future work. It is useful to recall the experience of internships or internships. It is also worth sharing in the summary how you managed to combine the workload with part-time jobs - time management skills are valued in most companies, so pay the recruiter attention to your ability to prioritize.

What to write in the Key Skills field

Writing on a free topic is often much more difficult than writing on a given one: the empty field “Key Skills” scares off many applicants, confusing them, and they prefer to leave it blank, not knowing what to write. But the employer pays close attention to this information. Key skills is an important section of the resume where you can indicate your professional skills and expertise that reinforce your claims for certain vacancies, as well as distinguishing you from other candidates for positions. It is important to write here primarily about what is relevant to the desired position: professional experience, knowledge of special programs and technologies. For the position of chief accountant it can be: more than 10 years as a chief accountant in foreign companies; successful experience in managing accounting (up to 10 people); knowledge: taxes, GAAP reporting, ACCA Dip IFR certificate, certificate of auditor; software skills: 1C, BEST, SUN, CMS, “Consultant”, “Guarantor”,
